TV. vs Books by Chanju

Today, thanks to the development of technology, people can have easy access to television.  As people watch TV more and more, it gradually takes the place of books.  Of course, TV gives people information and news; however, books are still more important than TV.

The first reason is that TV is a passive medium while book is an active medium.  People can get any information from books whenever they want, which means that they can find anything from books by themselves.  On the other hand, information from TV is limited.  People can learn some things from TV only when it is available on the air.  Also, people just gain something that the TV gives them, not what they want.

Also, people cannot get more information from TV.  TV doesn't give them all that they want.  However, books have a lot of information people can choose from.  So, they can have more detailed information by reading books.  In books there are many things people want to know, and people can keep books for a long time.

I receive some information from books better than from TV, as well.  For example, the book, Farenheit 451, teaches me that "books are necessary for people."  In the book, people cannot read books because it is illegal.  Their lives without books are very vain.  They always watch TV, which gives them nothing.  It makes them live without goals.  If someone reads books, the books are burnt.  Because there are no books, people do not think about anything, so they cannot do anything by themselves.  They just live the same lives everyday.  Not reading books makes their lives terrible.  This book teaches me that books are very important.

However, many children do not read books but watch TV and movies.  For these children, many interesting books are published each year.  For instance, children learn lessons from picture books.  Some teaching books such as the Talmud are made into comic books.  So, kids can be interested in the book and understand its concepts more easily.  Also, there are many interesting books like three-dimensional books.  Through these books, children can learn something easily with fun.

Books make people think but TV doesn't.  TV just gives some information.  Without thoughts, people cannot live.  Therefore, books, which gives them whatever they want, are more important than TV.
